1. it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get the PR card . sometimes a bit longer.
2. you cannot reenter the country with out it. have you arranged for someone to mail it to you ?
3. you need a canadian add to get the PR . it will be mailed to the add you provided at the time of immigration.
4. PR card is your travel document and is used only for that purpose.
5. best of luck

Yes I gave my caada address to immigration Authorities at the time of Landing for mailing PR card .They accept my photo & and my son photo(for my wife & doughter they have taken new photos at the Airport).

I informed my hotel GM where I styed in Toronto. They have collected 100 dollors for mailing PR cards and service charge.

Is there any other link to check the status. Pls advice me.

I got mine in 3 weeks but I know of cases with it took upto 6 weeks. Try calling CIC on their helpline number (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english). They will be able to help you out.

I have gone through same situation , in my case I had to wait for 8 weeks to get my card however my wife's card was mailed within 4 weeks although we applied at the same time while landing. So you may need to wait for some more time .

You can contact the nearest Canadian Embassy with the this letter and your PRC. They will issue you a visa for your son.

For more information contact the nearest Canadian Embassy.

Hi everyone,

I think it is more appropriate to ask my query in this thread.

I landed in Canada along with my wife and 3 year old son in 1st wk of June 2009. We stayed in our friend’s house for 10 days, applied for SIN cards for three of us and went back to India. We gave our friends home address for the PR and SIN cards to be posted. After 3 weeks my friend received SIN cards for three of us. But only two PR cards were posted and my son's PR card was not received. We waited for nearly a month for my son's PR card but it is still not sent.
I tried to contact the toll free number given in CIC website as many of you have already mentioned, it is not accessible from outside Canada.
I would like to know if there is any other option to sort this without physically coming to Canada and not hiring a lawyer. These are expensive options and as everyone else already we spent so much money in the process of getting PR.
I have read that some people had experienced the same situation as us i.e not receiving one of the family members PR card in post.
Can you please let me know how you proceeded further?
I think it is their responsibility to send the PR cards in post if everything is done correctly. And I assume as me and my wife got our cards in 3 weeks we did the procedure in the right way. I am just wondering how they can miss one card that too of a three year old kid. I am worried about my son's PR card as I am not in Canada now and not sure how to deal with this.

One more thing, can my friend contact the CIC on my behalf? Will they give the information to the other person?

Please let me know what to do.
Any advice is much appreciated.

Thank u very much in anticipation.

Regards,
SS
