Has anyone had any experience with this kind of diet? It's where you replace one or more of your daily meals with a nutritious shake. You are also allowed to have some fruit with the shake if you wish.

If anyone has tried it, what were the results? Any undesireable side effects? Did you lose weight, how much, and in how much time?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

PP

Sure. Well I just started today. Had my first shake at 12.30pm and I'm just starting to feel hungry again now. Not bad. We can PM each other with progress reports if you like.

Have you seen any change in weight so far?

Hi PP,

When starting on a diet like this you may want to think about long term goals.

Is this plan sustainable(how long will you use it to keep off the weight) in the long run? (I personally find it easier to say that I will exercise for the rest of my life than say that I will have a meal replacement shake for the rest of my life)

If not sustainable what will be the effects once one is off it? Will it lead to yo-yo dieting?

If dropping pounds is the idea it may work in the short run but it will probably not affect the overall body shape/proportion. Also other problem areas e.g: cellulite may remain unaffected. Tightening the skin/increasing muscular tone is the way around.

More importantly are you planning to complement the diet with an exercise plan/increased physical activity? The success of keeping weight off and staying healthy may depend more on this lifestyle change than the shake itself.

p.s: I do use supplements...but only to increase energy levels to support my exercise regime. So I add a shake to my regular meals(small portions). i.e: eat to support lifestyle...the focus being on the lifestyle.

hi,
i was doing meal replacement 3 months back. quickly lost 1 stone in a month.had to giveup .but i've started again.i drink mrs for breakfast, lunch, dinner usual one before 6 pm.nothing after that may be a cup of skimmed milk with lo cal sugar.i dont have any time for exercise.e mail me .this sort of diet needs a lot of determination.i'm 88kgs.my target is
1)78.
2)68
3)58
i believe i can do this in 4 months time. i dont weigh myself every day only once every week.once a month would be good.i also take a to z vitamin supplement calcium tabs.i drink at least a glass of water/buttermilk/black coffee/diet cola every hour.
this way of diet suits me.once i reach my target weight i plan to keep it of by reducing my portion for breakfast &lunch.salad for dinner.
