I am waiting for final Visa approval but seek few informations from your end.
I am planning to travel alone to Canada after getting Visa and would like to return back to India after 7/10 days time. My entire family ( wife and son ) visa will get expired by Feb07. I would like to wind up and relocate at Canada by Oct07.
My question is:
1. Since my wife and son's visa will get expired by Feb07, what is the process of renewal of Visa.
2. If the visa cannot be renewed, what is the process for fresh application of visa for my wife and son.
3. What do you suggest in this situation.
regards

Others might be far more knowledgeable regarding this, but if I am not mistaken, if you applied as a family it is almost imperetive that you land together? secondly if your families' visas expire(before landing), you have to start the application afresh.
Obviously you may have your own reasons, but I am not sure if what you are proposing really makes much sense.
Good luck to you. When you get visa, do travel to Canada on an immigrant entry. Get your passport stamped for Landed status. Now you have established your status here.
Here the schools start fresh for the year, after the labour day, which is the 8th of September this year. (Here the labour day is the first Monday in Sept of each year unlike the May day everywhere else) So, if you want your son to be enrolled into a school, then be there a few weeks ahead to get him into one. It is free and you will get into one where ever you reside. How is that for re-assurance.
As regards, extension of Visa, due to quota system, you will block some one's entry. But getting extension depends on the location from which you got the first one and they might have reservations. Also will cost you something more.
So, get them in here and get them settled first. Then, if the kid is young, no prblems skipping the school for a month or two, after enrolling. You can usually generate a good excuse to get out for a few weeks, if that suits you too.
Do you have a job proposal before you enter, or you have to look for one? Then you do have an uphill battle to get started, also the family will certainly be helpful if they are handy with you.
Welcome to Canada.
