Hi!

I wish to give exams of Oracle 9i DBA. Does anybody have OCP certificate & can guide me ?

I have some questions.

1. Is it worth to join any institute who teaches oracle 9i DBA syllabus ?
- I inquired to DeVry & Herzing College for Oracle course - their range
starts from 5000$ for part time / 6 month & full time for 14500/year
without certification papers fees... & other institutes charge around
5000-6000$ for 3 months course without OCP exams fees. (Too costly)

2. If i wish to prepare for exam on my own which books/ mateiral i've to
look for?

3. Will OCP impact on canadian Employeer with my Indian degree and
experience?

I have 3 years of RDBMS experience other than oracle & I am out of my field since last 1 year. so i want to upgrade my skill.

Thanks in advance for your valuable guidance.

Hi,

I feel that an OCP cert under ur belt would give u a lot of leeway till the Interview .How u perform thereafter is ur own capability which is independent of ur Certification .

4 preparing personally I suggest the best way is to get the Oracle Ed material wherever u can get it 4m (U shudnt expect 2 clear OCP w/o that) and then prepare for it individually .

Other good books aiding u in study /preparation wud be the Oracle Press books .Ofcourse either of these things are easier 2 find in India !!

Take care & all the best .

OCA is quite easy (first two tests sql and DB funfamental I). Next two (DB fundamental II and DB tuning) are relatively difficult. The Oracle Press books (Jason Couchman / Rama Velpuri) are great. These books alone will let you pass.
Small tip, if you register for exams online (2test.com) yourself, use the code "OTN20" to get 20% discount on the exam price.
Are there Oracle DBA jobs in Toronto?
