no engineering degree is valid there..u will have to do a course there...or be prepared to do odd jobs..this is not to discourage u...but recently my friend who was in toronto returned back with family......he was in a good public sector here......could not find any job as degrees is not valid......so do not have high hopes of getting white collar job.....you will at par with any new immigrant there.......but in 2-3 yrs u may get job after u get experience there....but plz dont not get discourage....this is my personal information...
That is not true. If you have a valid degree then that is equivalent to a BS degree here. The only thing is that the meaning of Engineeer is primarily a design engineer here. Further if one has experience of running plants or M& R then they join as Supervisor in production or maintenance. But that is all hands on work and not like India. Especially people from public sector and not very good communicator may face the biggest barriers. Even then if one is up to it and wants some excitement then one must come to Canada and try it out. My experienceis that in a time period of 2-3 yrs people do get some kind of work in their field however levels may differ. But in North America money is important as there is very little importance attached to positions and career ascendancy. Typical of us south asians that we want to get the same managerial position but that is the glass ceiling. ANy way life is all about trying and achieving and it is always worth trying.
