I want to experiment with home made bread. I am contemplating going in for a bread maker. Any recommendations?
Or can one make equally good dough for bread in a food processor? I have noted the comment of a previous post regarding the quantity a food processor can take.

We have tried successfully stand mixers and food processors for kneading flour .
There s one on CT ( Black n Decker ) which goes for $50/- every now and then .
Stand mixer can also be brought for $50/- if you look around .
I thought I saw a bread maker for $50/- in the CT / Walmart flyer , last week or the one prior .........

I use the bread maker regularly. It takes a little longer - around 6 to 9 minutes, but the dough comes out really good. The only thing to keep in mind is the right proportion of flour & water, and you'll notice that the proportion changes from one brand or flour to another. I just one of the settings for making bread. Once the dough is made I just disconnect the appliance. The dough comes out really well (provided I've got the right proportion)

We have been using Kitchenaid 6 Professional Series for the past 5 years along with a c-dough mixer and it is perfect for our kind of dough mixing. Would recommend it in a heartbeat. Bought it from Costco for 299 on sale.
