Adelaide Victory

I was one of those lucky North Americans who witnessed Indian Victory over Australia. It was really an Indian Victory rather than victory of one man over Eleven.

Now the Media, People & Everyone seems to have found new confidence in Team & 'The Wall'.

I am myself a big fan of Rahul. Patience pays. He always have played supporting role. He scores 100, someone comes out with 150. He scores 150, it is bettered with 200. And to some extent, I think, he likes to be in shadow. He performs better being out of lime-light. Infact, post match interview he made bowlers & Ajit architects of this Victory. he said, He didn't want to disappoint Ajit ... Bowlers did marvellous job in buying 20 wickets ...

He Truely is a Team man. When he accepted wicket keeping job, I have read media saying that he accepted gloves to save his place in ODIs. He graciously gave his no. 3 to Laxman when team asked him to in Test. His natural game is not no. 5 of ODI. But he comes out and scores 50 off 22 balls.

While watching the game, I was thinking, if India goes on to loose this match ... how many will stand by 'The Wall'. Ofcourse the Team will. But Media? Ex-players might, but not everyone. Rahul was playing to his plan. Just stay on the wicket, runs will come (doesn't mater if not boundaries). I am saying this because there was a period when he was hitting loose deliveries straight to fielders or for one, in company of Sachin. It was much of a mental game than physical. Even Sachin was nervous, he was hitting Full pitched delieveries on his legs to fielders. He surely was out of his self belief.

Australians didn't bowl badly at all. It was evident, early departure of Chopra ... Viru was bogged down for long ... Rahul had to fight for his runs initially ... Sachin, even after staying on wicket for good span, couldn't middle everything. You could easily have felt tension on Dada's face. Only one ... Laxman came out all blazing. He middled every delievery but one. He read McGills' Leg spin (Exclusive inside-out cover drives). He read his Googlie, even before McGill crossed umpire (On drive with closed blade).

Enjoy this rare victory of Indian Team, before they face 'Chin Music' on Boxing Day. With arrival of Brett Lee, it surely will be 'Chin Music'. But this time around only one difference. A Confident looking Indian Team (I hope its not over confident bunch now).

This victory did have undertones of "Lagaan", no? An underdog Indian team expected by everyone to fail disastrously in a phoren land tames the arrogant Aussies in an enthralling finish.

Dravid is the stuff legends are made of. The Adelaide match was almost a hollywood display of steadfast willpower against all odds. I haven't seen any other Indian cricketer display that kind of dogged perseverance and dedication ever. I feel proud to say this guy's from my country.

Lets see what happens on Boxing Day ... I am not expecting too much of heroics on MCG. But now confident Indian batting can really play big part.

You can't say anything about our team.

The batsmen are really strong. The bowlers have to strike!

It is good news but aren't 5-day test matches history?

On MCG Wicket I think, India will have more worries on batting front rather than bowling. Zaheer will be back. Agarkar in full cry is fantastic bowler, only problem with him is that first few overs decides his fate for session or even full day sometimes.

I like 5-Day Test (which means two evenly matched team) rather than a test finished in 3 or 4 days.

So as they say, Indian Team always plays exciting Cricket ... You can't Predict them.

Sachin is still due though !!!
