If you are new to Canada then don't be surprised if you get an email or a phone call from Pri*erica. They will tell you that they found your resume in Monster/Workopolis and would like to discuss a job opportunity.

Then they will invite you to one of the meetings. Big things are shown and promised in the meeting. They will also show you how they r spending big vacations in Las Vegas and how easy it was to recieve the ticket/hotel reservation/events calendar in mail.

Well, I am sure there r ppl who r reaping in a lot of cash in this business .. they have a whole book with pictures of their top earners. Its all very exciting .. specially when you are new in Canada.. But when u ask any desi who is working there.. you will come to know about the truth.

A desi saved me a lot of time and energy by actually telling me that this is not a really good scheme.. and he was doing that only till he finds a job for himself.

There are loads of MLM here and in India. If you see any advertisement promising big amounts like make $7000 by investing $1000 in as little as 4 weeks or something like that, do ask if it is MLM. They will say come to our meeting and things like that. Do ask if it is MLM before going to meeting. If you are not prepared to be in MLM, then better to stay away. Some miniscule percentage of people do make money though from such schemes though.

As far as I know, Primerica is not "nakli" or scam. Again you require patience and effort and it does not work for everyone. They pay you a percentage of sales you make (investment schemes). There is one post by Garvo Gujrati on that, will give some more details. For that use search button in canadiandesi.ca

I had been to one of their meetings when I was job hunting, nice ladies persuded me to sit and listen to them. Yeah right I did! It's a insurance selling scheme of some kind and you as well have to build up a cliential and get in more people to work under you as well.

They were located in a office somewhere in Richmond Hill side and had asked me to come for an interview from looking at my CP on a job hunt website. If you have a good toungue and can give a lot of Churan to people you can make good at this kinda business.

They can only place you in menail jobs like factories, loading, security officers, telemarketing. No serious office jobs and something in the vaguest consonance with your qualifications?=Just plain forget it, boss
They are bekar in that department.

Caprico,
The level of service is extremely low. You walk into their office and nobody smiles at you and everybody walks around with tombstones in their eyes.

Most probably money they are charging are for the exam you need to clear in order to get license for mutual funds (or insurance), so it should be fair. I know this because one of Primarica Gora approached me for my financial needs analysis. He was surprised to know how I manage my wealth and as Chandresh wrote, their concept is more saleable to Goras rather than us Desis.

At the end of the discussion I told him that it would be difficult to sell your ideas to any desis. When we can invest our money in stores, subways and motels and getting more than 25% return a year, why consider anything with 10 percent return ?

Above quote from Garvo on Primerica, dug out from the grave
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Howdy Garvo,

Just to let you know, in the last 6 months I have done several debt consolidations for desis who had mortgages at 6% plus (some even at 8%).and car loans and credit card balances, not thru Primerica though. I have helped them save hundreds and even thousands per month. To say that desis do not need debt consolidations because they know how to manage their money is an understatement. Maybe true for Gujaratis, but not other communities. Basically I found they had no time to go to the banks because their work time clashed with the banks. Also they did not know that the difference would be so huge! They always thought the savings would be less than $100 per month, so they wern't motivated enough. The fact is the diff can be substantial.
Another thing is that you say you know of avenues where one can invest and earn 25%, please do list them here. Mind you, I am saying invest, not also work the investment. Don't tell me to take a franchise of Subway or open a store and be there 16 hours a day to make 25%. That is working an investment. I would appreciate vehicles where I plant the lettuce and see it grow by 25% as managed by others, so I can also suggest the same to others. I am willing to pay for the info.My email is Do let me know.

Merci in advance
BKB
