To Megals reply

Ok you don’t like how the desi behave and don’t follow rules? The fault is people like us, who do nothing and just watch and express some anger.

What action did you take? Did you a file a formal complaint that these rules are violated and police are not taking action. This country has made laws for people to follow it. If you see some braking rule you must complain it.( It is not India. police do act ). So don’t think this India and keep quite. Take action and complain to the authorities.

Hello CD members,
Just wanted to share my experience of horrible attitude by desi's in an already existing thread.
Yesterday i had been to IKEA Etobicoke to baby sit an Infant in the Childrens Play area of IKEA.
I entered the elevator along with a South Indian Desi couple with a small child of around 2 1/2 years. The South Indian Desi female wanted to press the elevator button and she did so. In the meantime, the child also wanted to press the elevator button, and he did so but only that he pressed the button " Press for Emergency". So immediately , we could hear a phone ring. The South Indian Desi male, immediately realised the mistake and struck the female gently in the hand .(It looked like he meant to say - lady, canot you watch the boy properly?).
Now the security picked the line up and said "9018, you have reached the Emergency service line. May i help you". Since, it was they who made the mistake, i assumed that they would explain the mistake, but they did not. The voice said again " Hello! IS anyone there?". It was at this time that i realised that the South Indian Desi Couple will not speak again and so i said on to the Mic. that a boy had pressed the button by mistake. The security then said "OK! No Problem" and hung up.
Even though all this happened , the South Indian Desi couple, did not even look at me to acknowledge my act and simply walked out of the elevator. Judging by their body language, it looked like they were 3 or 4 years in Canada.
I am sure that if a local was in my position, he would have challenged the South Indian Desi couple to tell them a word of thanks.
Just another of my horrible experience with desi's.
By the language that they spoke, they must be either Telugu or Kannada.
TK A
Afternote -> Body Language : I had wanted to explain this in my first post but did not do so for the want of time. The Desi couple came by Car (since they came from the basement to the ground floor), their behaviour , the stylish dress of the female desi, ease of movement, etc... made me conclude that they were here for 3 to 4 years.
Afternote 2 : Since it was a Sunday, I had been to Church. Since i went to the church , i was fully bathed and brushed. I had some washed and pressed cloths on too.

This might be a silly question TK, but how could you tell from just their body language that they had been in Canada for 3 or 4 years?

1. Letting children do these type of things are common among desi parents. They think that their child is something great by doing so (such as pressing wrong button in the elevator). What the parents are doing? scratching their butt?

2. Letting children pick up the phone when ringing. I hate it. Dont know why. Parents are responsible for these tasks, not the 3, 4 year olds.

3. As I have observed, majority of south indians lack gratitude. It's inborn or just arrogance, I dont know. A simple thank you wont come out of their mouth.

Sounds like something or somebody in the elevator spooked them.

Probable cause: It was a weekend...apparently some people just let themselves go(when it comes to personal hygiene) on the weekends.
:p

Do you mean 3-4 year old kids, or is it children in general answering the phone that irritates you?

I don't know what you have against South Indians. I understand you're one too (so am I), but you seem to be hell-bent on criticizing South Indians in particular in so many of your posts.

I have plenty of South and North Indian friends settled in the US and Canada, and don't see them as being arrogant or lacking in gratitude. Most of them are as polite and well-mannered (including their children) as one can expect.

Jughead,
You have lived with desi's only in USA and Canada. I have lived with Desi's in Africa, Gulf, SE Asia and also Canada. Desi's in the Gulf and Canada are the worst in my opinion. Many in USA / Canada are IT professionals / Professionals and hence they might have been to your frequency. But I have lived in Canada with Science / arts graduates and they have tried and sometimes exploited me. You could have read my experiences with those type of guys in my previous thread. I have lived with people who donot help to cook, clean toilets, clean the house, wash dishes etc... In Canada, most of the desi's that i have seen are very arrogant and hence i try to avoid desi's in the GTA. Even in the Chinese shops , Desi's tend to be arrogant with fellow desi's. Everywhere i go , i have seen desi's frowning when seeing another desi with a look as if the other desi is a competition to him. I also have seen Desi's / sri lankans stealing in Walmart and in a dollar store. In Walmart, it was opening a box of Diapers and putting 3 or 4 in the handbag and applying sun screen cream from a to be sold product. In the dollar store, I have seen a Desi opening a packet of hair bands and putting one in her hair.
These are just my views, experiences and not a general / blanket statement.
Experience will vary between desi's
TK A
