I got my canadian gc in 2003 but for the work reason i had to stay at detroit for one year and i could not move to windsor until 2005 january. I had carried OHIP card until Jan 2005 and i found out that i should not carry ohip card if i am not living in canada. I went to ohip office at windsor and i surrendered my card to them. They told me that if i decided to live here, then i can re initiate it by writing to general manager. Then, April 2005 i moved to windsor and started living there until now. I wrote a letter to general manager with all possible documents (car title, driving license, 2 bank statements, credit card statement, telephone bills, utility bills, pay checks with windsor address, tax returns etc ) to reissue my ohip card. two weeks back i got a letter stating that they need some proof to prove my physical presence. I had submitted all the documents for one year to prove my presence. Now I travel a lot in canada as part of my new job.
Now what do I do? They need some kind of social or leisure activity proof. I have very limited leisure activity because of my work related travel. I have few friends at windsor and few at toronto area. Now i am started to collect letters from them saying that i am living at windsor. My company also issued letter stating that i live in windsor and some of my clients at toronto issued letter confirming that i visit their office every week.
Should I go with an attorney with these letters or should I do it myself. I think that if I do it myself they will just deny my request. I lived 5 years at Michigan and i moved to canada with bigger hopes...I had changed my job (still working at michigan)just to live in canada. Is this the price for my Honesty????
Please suggest me if anybody gone thru the same with the similar situation.
Thanks All.
