The infant that i was talking about is now 12 months +. I have left the Infant in a day care (private grandmother) near my house. They charge $35 a day but the problem is that the infant is not eating or comfortable with them. Besides they are going to india in 2 weeks and so i have to find an alternative. I have also found that the male of the house hates his wife baby sitting the infant b'cos the grandmother has to hold the baby throughout to stop the baby from crying.
ALso they called me 2 times this week that the baby is crying too much and then i had to go (35 mins each way) and bring the baby to my office. In my office , on a stroller near my computer, the infant is very comfortable. The Infant is comfortable for only 3-5 hours and then i have to leave early. Besides I have to change Diapers in my car and i am afraid if it will spill on the car seat. If i give a highlighter to the infant, the infant stays calm , sucking the high lighter for 1 hour. Then if the infant gets restless, i change it with a tri angular scale which the infant duly puts in the mouth. I give the infant Cheese bits pricked on to a gem clip and water/ juice from my seat. I donot allow the infant to get off the stroller since there are a lot of wires and important drawings lying around and which i donot want tampered. Though my boss has not said anything as of now, How long can this go on? I have to find a new day care but there is none near my house (Royal York and Lakeshore). I should have moved to Queensway-Hurontario where there are Dozen to a Dime babay sitters. But now it is too late.
I am thinking that it is best to find one near my office (Steels-Weston Road in Vaughan) so that i can attend to the Infant. I visited one day care (Private) but they take only 18 month + child and there is a waiting list. They are asking for $45 / day and the day care is good and professional.
So the Question to CD's is :
What are my options?
Also a open letter to " Aashu" - > What have you decided for Day care for your infant? HAve you found a baby sitter? If there is space i would like to join this Infant with your baby sitter. You location is just near my office and so will work out.
Any / all answers welcome esp. Sankaracharya's inputs would be very welcomed.
Any way of claiming Govt. sponsered subsidized day care?

Also a Note to the Govt. of Canada :
Since most private day cares start baby sitting the child only from18 months of age, EI (Maternity) should be increased to 18 months from the Date of delivery from the current 42 weeks. This will help immesely Immigrants who are alone in this country. People say that babies walk well from around 18 months and hence the condition.

Added note (as a result of Dimple's comments) : The highlighter cover was there. The Infant just sucked the plastic.

TK,
The "Infant" you are referring to must be your child (I truly hope) since you are diligently taking care of the baby.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to refer the "infant" as your son or daughter (and he or she)?

Also, letting the baby suck the highlighter for an hour...? What's with that? getting the baby "high" or what?;)

TK, We have lots of people doing baby sitting in my building at home for $ 2-3 an hour if you are interested.

I have found a job at king and univ. any one knows of baby sitters around ? i will check the website mentioned earlier in this thread.

if i dont find any thing in regd, i will keep him in my building.

my hours r 9 to 5 and i need 1.15 min one way to commute so in essence my son would be in baby sitting from 11 to 12 hours everyday which is pain even to think of :(

well......

Aashu,
I assume that you will take the subway. So i belive that you will have to wake up at around 5:45 am and leave the house with the child around 7:15 am. You will come back around 7:00 pm. 5 days a week is truely a pain. Try to have your spouse to do all the child work in the morning (incl. brushing infant teeth, bathing, feeeding, diaper etc...) and you will do all the childword in the evening (incl. pciking up / feeding/ bathing). Only then this would work out.
Other possiblity is for your spouse to take a 12 noon to 9:00 pm work slot (if this is possible) and so you will be leaving the baby in the daycare for around 6-7 hrs which is good for everyone. Also if you are going to a new job, then you will have to spend extra time in the begining to gain the confidence of the employer.

Main note :
Try "Weewatch.com". This is an Agency.
In Downtown you will find only professional day care centres charging around $1100+ a month.
Another option is to leave the child in the first subway that you get into. for e.g. if you embark at Finch subway stn. to reach your office , then see some local baby sitters in that area.
As for the infant for whom i am responsible, I am looking for a baby sitter who will baby sit just this infant and not do baby sitting for 4 or 5 children at a time, since this Infant is very fussy and the person looking after this infant has to be holding the infant the whole time so that it will not cry. If you know some baby sitters who can baby sit this kind of infant in your building , please contact me. I donot want to leave the infant to a baby sitter, to have them call me after some hours saying that they canot handle such an infant.
Also I have heard that some Desi's bring their elderly parents to Canada and then make them go on welfare and these desi parents are ready to baby sit babies for a very nominal sum. I have seen many such people at Weston and Finch area in the high rise apts.. Have you tried contacting these people?

Latest addition :
The Baby sitter baby sitting the infant in my family has declined to baby sit from today! I really donot know how i am able to find one by Tuesday! This coming week is a long weekend. Most of the professional day cares have a huge waiting list and private day care providers are very hard to find for an Infant. I looked at our CD classified but most of them are in Brampton/ mississauga/ donot baby sit infants..Any tips/ help to this effect appriciated.
