hi,
They will not know anything about north india. They are mostly sri lankan brothers doing business in SL and Tamil nadu only.
Ask any Punjabi or drive in brampton and find out. I am sure that there will be tons of money deliverers in that area. Since it is small amount, it does not make sense to take a DD .
Just my opinion

Sidenote : the money deliverer that i am talking about for SL and TN only is at Kauvery Supermarket and corner of Dundas St. and Hurontario (HWY 10) in Mississauga.
Good Luck!

My Man if you are in Toronto, the best and the safest way to send money to India is to use ICICI bank's service. There are 4 branches of ICICI bank in Ontario, 2 in Toronto and 1 each in Brampton and Scarborough. You can find the addresses on the following link:

I use ICICI bank myself. if you send money through RBC with who they have a tie up its CAD 5.00 charge. If you want to send directly through ICICI its CAD 10.00 charge. Wierd but true that you pay less with RBC. Besides RBC has more branches than ICICI.
Hi All,
This is my suggestion, why do not we start a special thread on this forum where in each one of us who has any need of transfering money to India or from India , put up our need on the forum, and any other member who has a similar need otherwise can respond , the two can contact within themselves and settle their transaction. This platform only acts as a forum where 2 person meet or air their requirement.
Quiet often we may find someone wants to send money , while another may be thinking to bring in money, obviously their amounts may vary, but may be something can work out. It shall be cheaper and beneficial to both the parties

Peacock1,
This will not work.
First of all , we have to get the permission of the moderators if this is legally allowed.
secondly, from Canada, people transfer comparitively small amounts of money to India. OTOH, from india (if at all) people may transfer their life funds to Canada (e.g) sale of a house worth 30 lakhs.
And it is risky to business with a person met on the net/CD without verifying his background. Money deliverers are much more relaiable and may just cost $10 extra which is worth every penny.
Just my views.

Hi Kunesh
First of all I am very happy that you saved some money to send back home, the reason for that few days there was a discussion on the forum do we saved money or not?. Surprisingly one CD member replied to the discussion stating that his saving is Zero……. Anyway, that is not the concern of your query.
I have been using ICICI Bank Canada service for money transfer to India since they opened Branch in Ontario. Their service is very good. If you have a savings account with ICICI Bank India then you can do the money transfer really very fast. The exchange rate is reasonably higher in ICICI Bank than the other financial institutions in Canada and similarly the transaction charge is very less when compared to other institutions in Canada.
You can also link your other Canadian savings accounts (maximum three) to your ICICI Bank Canada savings account and then transfer money to India to your ICICI account or other bank accounts.
You can maintain a zero balance savings account with ICICI Bank Canada to do wire transfer to India.
The Canadian Dollar is very strong against Indian Rupees past few months now you can better exchange rate…for instant today, the exchange rate of One Canadian Dollar to Indian Rupees is 39.72 with ICICIC Bank and I believe this is highest exchange rate so far between Canadian Dollar and Indian rupees …………….
