Can some please provide information? What are the monthly expensive for town house (2BR+1 Bath)? Like electric bill, Hydro or Gas, and maintenance etc…in Mississauga area. Is there any web site which provides that information?

I am planning to buy a home (first time) and trying to compare it if better to buy Condo apartment (multi story), Condo with two or three floor or town house.

Thanks

The expenses for utilities are in direct proportion of the usage. The more you use, more you pay. For an average family who would conserve energy (which I believe we all should) it may cost around $ 175 - $ 200 per month for a town house. The maintenance could be anywhere between $125- $150 per month.

Just to add to what Pramodji said, the maintenance fees for decent condos in Mississauga is quite high. While the older Condos include most utilities in their maintenance fees, in the newer ones your are responsibel to foot your own Hydro bills. In one way this is a better arrangement as it leads to conservation and wise utilization of a precious resource.

Let me understand this correct, the property in question is Condo townhouse and not Condo apartment.

The condo fees in an avg. townhouse can range between $90-250 pm. Higher condo fees are seen in hi-rise condo apt bldgs. The condo fees in the latter case includes-heat, hydro (not in all the newer bldgs.), water, common elements, bldg. insurance etc.

Townhouses condo fee normally covers the common elements and bldg. insurance. and that's why it is lesser than apartments.

One should be cautious though when judging condominiums on the basis of condo fees alone. There are many other things that are important and advise of some professional Realtor and lawyer is beneficial-some things one might like to know about the condominium corporation can be-amount reserve fund, is this amount adequate to cover future repairs, what is covered in the condo fee, who replaces roof, windows, external structure, who maintains lawn, garage door, furnance etc.

I know of some good condominum corporations that will even replace the furnance, once the same stops functioning.

Making this post a sticky on Alexm's suggestion. Request to members to please continue posting questions regarding condo and townhome fees in this one.

Parth, I've edited the title a bit.
