What do you want ? A lion's visa ? Or a monkey's visa ? :D

A visa is a visa, it's your state of mind that determines the rest :D

Daffodil,
Thanks for your answer.
I do agree that USA had very good oppertunities for people who did their masters there (other than IT). But as such, Canada is not such a place. I know people who have done master's in Canadian univ's and still have not been able to get jobs. That is what i am peeved off about Canada. Gulf offer's good positions but not Canada.
I invite any CD members to put forward their views that Architecture is a good profession in Canada.
I do understand that there are good jobs for Arch. outside Canada but i am talking about job prospects in Canada. Even if i do a masters here still there is discrimination (i know and vouch only for Architecture). Recently in a seminar i met a European architect turned graphic designer in the GTA.She told me taht since she found Architecture to be with very poor oppertunities / low salary in Canada, she turned to Graphic design and earns a very good salary. I have met so many urban planners (some with Canadian qualifications) and all of them were without any jobs (we had a forum for Planners and Architects).

So you mean most Canadian graduates are jobless and should move to the Gulf?

So let me get this straight, she wasn't happy with the salary level in her field, so she swtiched fields and that somehow translates into job discrimination?

Did you ever think about joining a forum that had Architects currently working in the field so you could get valuable tips and contacts? Also I find the term "without any jobs" quite strange

DT,
To clarify, every architect, urban planner etc.. that i have met is an Immigrant. Some immigrants are with post graduate Candian qualification. One particular individual told me that even in the U of T, the professors could not give recommendations for a job.
DT, If we had to switch fields, then why should a person be evealuvated for immigration under a particular profession. May be i am not interested nor have the aptitude for the field of Graphic design.
The people without jobs that i mentioned are " Immigrants".
I invite architects in this forum to share their views of how they were able to network with Gora architects . As far as i am aware no one is interested in mentoring/ giving tips in this profession. Maybe others have a different view.

TK, I agree with you on one point that here in Canada, most "professions" are somewhat unionized and those already in the profession tend to guard their piece of the business by making it very tough for newcomers to get in. On the flip side, you and I would do the same thing if we were faced with the possibility of hundreds of thousands of newcomers competing with us every year for jobs and business. I suggest that we approach this problem from an objective point of view rather than wasting time on the India vs. Canada debate.

Cheers

DT

DT ,
Thanks for the objective approach.
Then you do agree that "Canada is not facing massive professional workers shortages" as advertised by stats canada and others but that it is "facing only hard factory labour shortages". Canada is actually saturated with local gora workers in the professional fields (for many professions) and that immigration canada is just bringing all tom, dick and harry who apply for reasons taht only the govt. of canada knows.
This is all that i want the forum to know. If you are a professional and you immigrate to Canada, it is not easy to get a job. It is very hard and sometimes will seem impossible. If you want to rise above the rest, then you might have to upgrade yourself, volunteer, change professions and for all this you need lots of spare money. This iswhat i have been meaning all along.
