Hello friends,

I am new to this forum. Allow me to introduce myself.

I am an Indian citizen , currently in US (Boston) working in the IT sector in H1B visa. Since getting a US Green Card is next to impossible nowadays, I applied for and got PR of Canada last year. I am back in US now using the 2/5 year rule. I plan to move to Canada sometime later this year.

Since I have heard that it requires a lot of internal references and networking in Canada to come to know of hidden jon opportunities which are not advertised, I was thinking of starting a forum to list all opportunities in the IT sector which may exist , but has not been advertised.

Therefore I would request the desi IT community in Canada to contribute to this forum and make the hidden opportunities known , so that immigrants and would-be immgrants know about the opportunities that exist. If we desi's help each other out , we can make a lot of difference.

If such a forum already exists , please redirect me to one of them.

Would appreciate all your valuable inputs..............

Don't worry, It isn't like you won't get through without personal reference, me and couple of people done that.
But I can't deny, reference helps.
Check back before you move from US, there are couple of things you might need to prepare and stay away from some shocks unlike what I experienced.

I work in the Ministry of Finance as a Systems Architect, I got this purely with the help of internet job sites such as workopolis or Monster. When you plan to move, give a shout, I will pass the contact list of some recruiters and other IT Contacts that might be of help...

Good luck..

Thanks JRF for your input.

I really appreciate your help on this.

Come on guys , let us get this thread started.

I think , we prospective immigrants should start by posting our skill sets , experience etc and the canadiandesi IT pros already in Canada can post any requirements that they might have come across , maybe internal or external.

Let me start with myself.

I have 13 years of IT experience (last six years in US -mostly Financial compan). My Skill sets are Database Admin Sybase and SQL server with UNIX (shell scripting). I have some developer experience , mostly Sybase and SQL server again.

I am looking to move in Aug-Sep-Oct 06 timeframe
