Hi, \
I'd like to know that after Jan04, if a person leaves canada after landing and applying for PR card and SIN ...then returns back later to canada by getting the one time travel permit form the Canadian embassy overseas.
How long is the process of getting the return entry permit. Hope it is only a formality and they wont create any problems in giving the return permit.
Would appreciate your comments.

What can be imagined, can be achieved.
I think the policy on issuing that permit is yet to be shaped. It will depend on how many people actually apply for it and how much time the embassies will have to spend processing it. I'm sure it won't be as easy as just walking into an embassy and getting it (maybe I'm wrong) I think it would also depend on the workload of a specific embassy.
The CIC FAQ states that this permit is to be used in emergency cases only. And the issuance of the permit is discretionary, they're not bound by law to issue it.
Personally my advice would be to avoid getting into that situation as far as possible. If you land in Canada, then most probably the permit will be mailed to the address you specify in about 4 weeks. Better to have someone either courier it to you to deliver it to you if possible.
