we're due to collect our pr cards anytime soon. my sons( 13 yrs and 9yrs)will not be around for 2 months....will the authorities allow me to collect their pr card inspite of their absence??

Hi
if you are Lucky then they will send you the PR cards vis mail to your adress. Other wise if they write you a letter to collect the PR card from the CIC office. Then they will not deliver to anyone else except the PR card holder, not even to the parents.

You came a few weeks before me. Did you get your PR card(if yes, when did u get it) and did u fill any form for it? I think the process is automated and you do not have to fill in forms, which I did not.
Everytime I call the call center for PR card, it is busy.
I got my SIN.

I did not filled any forms, and I got my PR card in mail on 28 days after my landing It was exact four weeks time that the cic claims.
Also, one cannot talk to anyone regarding the satus of the PR card, even after calling the call centre they will not tell u anything..
One of friend asked me the phone number of the CIC, i did not remembered at that time. I told him to go to web site <www.cic.gov.ca> he got the phone number from that web site. He rand that call centre about 300 times. about 200 times he had to wait very long and hence got disconneted. and on rest of the 100 times they told him to visit the web site <www.cic.gov.ca>..
He told me this thing, I kept on loughing.. It was like an Infinite loop that we study in Programming. Then he anted to go to cic office, I told him that it will not make any difference. But He spent $9.00 ( $4.50 dollars twice) and two pecious forenoons to visit cic. There the security gusrd gave him the same phone number and the web site for further information.. 
When my friend told me about this. I was laughing and rooling on the floor. I told him that he has got into a CANADIAN LOOP... 
Anyway as he was my close friend, I applied my INDIAN to break this CANADIAN LOOP to get his PR card. 
But otherwise an sincere advice to new-commers is to AVOID THE CANADIAN LOOP.

Well friends my experience was different.
I stay in Bangalore and called up the CIC office in Canada (via internet phone which is as cheap as Rs. 7/Min.and is available at many shops here). I got the information I wanted. It was precise. I was told that as on date the waiting time was 25 days etc. etc. and I got all other info I desired. I was very impressed by the system. It costed me almost nothing to get the desired information i.e. 1.5 canadian dollars.
My only suggestion is when you are talking to these authorties you should be clear in your mind what you want to know and should have looked at the web sites before taking their time.
