Well! Lana2005,
I agree with you partly but from my experience (and what my friends tell me) i find it very bad in Canada. We have had very very bad experiences.
The most striking factor is the hospitals have doctors who are not good at all. All the best family doctors and specialists have been taken by Canadians leaving Immigrants to the Bad apples.
for e.g. in my wife's case, the delivery had complications due to the Gyn.. She could not walk properly for a month. we went to the emergency 2 or 3 times, but each time, the Acting doctor asks our Gyn's name and when we tell the name, the doc. becomes silent b'cos the mistake was done by their hospitals gyn.. where is the recourse for this?
Also my daughter (infant) was suffering from terrible cold. In canada, the doctor said that there is NO Medicine for cold for infants. In india the doctor prescribed a medicine and the cold was gone in a week. in Canada , she suffered for 3 months.
The Doctors (in MY OPINION ONLY) in canada just want to see as many patients as they can. Their main aim is to write your name properly on their sheet and they always want to see the next patient. Most of them donot even care to listen to the symptoms. for eg (this happened to a friend of mine) he was suffering from high fever for 3 days. when he went to the doctor, the doctor just said " use tylenol" and left. No seeing your tounge color, your tonsil, asking if you are throwing out etc...
More soon.
TK

Is your doctor local or of Indian origin? I have been to ER few times. My family physician is from Indian sub-continent. I feel the communication is much better than local doctors. I had taken advice from indo-canadian Gyn, Though for my gyn situation I did take a second opinion in India and was told the same thing my Canadian doctor told me. I also paid a visit to Scarborough general for CT scan and my experience was good. May be you need to research about your doctor's background and where do they refer to you if you need a specialist. My family physician and almost all specialist are part of one big medical center and most of them are from Indian sub-continent and by that I mean Bangladeshis, Afgans, Indians, Pakistanis. I must say my experience has been good so far. My only bad experience was with the dentist. She had to call 911 and sent me to ER once. As far as the wait times goes except for CT scan, I really havenot waited for any appointments.

All the doctors we went to are Canadian Born or European.
Any good medical clinics that you recommend.
We go to a walk-in clinic near trillium @ Queensway and our experience has been really bad.
Regards,
TK

My clinic is in the east end. When I first came to Canada, I lived in the east end. Though now I leave in West Toronto/Etobicoke I havenot changed my doctor. You are in Mississauga. I really donot know any medical clinic with many doctors from Indian sub-continent. If you go to the same doctor, he will even have a file of your complete medical history in Canada. That is what my doctor has. Every time I visit, he refers to the file. Without asking me he knows what medication I started on, when was higher doses prescribed. Which specialist I have seen etc.

I live in the west end, in Etobicoke , by the lake and near IKEA and i am really looking for a good clinic. May be you can PM me the clinic address and i would appriciate it.
I go to the mississauga clinic only b'cos i could not find near my home. besides though i have gone to this clinic for like a year they still have new sheets of paper everytime for me. I had a look at the sheet and it was blank. And besides , many of the doctors there come with their over coats with holes and i am really frightened if they are really doctors! (i mean , i have the fear that if they can dress so pathetically, then how will their service be)

Hi Garvo Ji,
Can we start the "Medical Related Issues" section then?

Thanks

I am not sure we have any doctor here or not. We can start the medical advise section without waiting for having any doctor on the board, however what would be the validity for such advises. Rather we call is "Medical Related Issues" and not "Advise", so anybody can contribute.

I think we can start a "Health and Wellness" section, which may not strictly be medical advice, yet would allow people to contribute ideas on health realted issues in general.
