We got a Sumeet food processor (mixer) from India. The dealer got the conversion done for 110 V so we could use it in Canada.

works great. I believe it may be available in Toronto although expensive.

Search "things to bring" or something like that on this website & you'll get lots of info.

Rgds.

Last time I was in Air India about 2 years ago.

Unless things have really changed now, they do not have comfortable seats for such long distance in economy. Their inflight service is almost nonexistent. You need juice, water, snacks or something, go get it yourself (if it is in stock).

Air Canada's economy seats are definitely more comfortable than Air India's. Inflight service is definitely better than Air India's.

Indian mixies would cost around $200 in Toronto.

It is a tough decision what to carry and what not since you cannot carry everything from India. Do a price/weight comparison.

I think Rajcanada hit the nail on the head. Ask yourself which items are the most expensive in Canada.

A packet of garam masala may cost 30 cents (equivalent) in Indian but may may be $2 in Canada. But these packets still take up space. It is better to bring high value items which cost a lot more in Canada. Don't sweat the small stuf like spices etc.

Just curious...if you are allowed only 2 bags checked in how are you plannig to fit ALL this stuff in addition to your clothes and other items?? Anyway, good luck on your move.

I second the staying away from Air India. I would not touch it with a ten foot pole.
