I have had a 9 years of experience in Indian pharmaceutcal industry in QA related function , well versed with regulatory requirements even.

As I am planning to immigrate in next 5 months what are my choices of getting a job in the same field.

Sorry, to break this news to you. Your job prospects in the same field is zero. You will be either over qualified or the vacancy has been filled up. It seems they do not recognize Indian education unless you are brilliant.

The best you would be able to do is go in further education and obtain some kind of credentials there. You have to realize that Canada is racist in the same vein as British.

Sorry for the bad news.

There are many pharmaceutical companies in Mississauga like Glaxo, Astra-Zeneca and many more. They typically hire people as packagers through temporary agencies. After spending a few years as a part timer, if you happen to create a rapport with somebody inside, and if they hire, you would lucky to get a full time position as a packager. After this whenever there is an internal position for a QC person, you would be hired internally for this position. This might take anywhere from 3 to 6 years. Canada prefers to take a person with \"Lower\" Qualification and train him for the job, than to hire a person from outside. Hence you would find high school are even Bachelor degree holders doing this job, and they would spent 10 to 15 years with the company. They would not be able to get a equivalent job elsewhere, and hence they would not quit this job. Even when a new comer like you comes in, you would be a definite threat to their job and hence you should be very carefull not to reveal your full abilities and education to them.

Remember we Indians learnt our politics from the English, and you would find that the politicking in Canadian organization is in the true british style, as Canada is from the British ancestry, unlike US where you find more to be Irish in ancestry. Please do not expect the hiring process to be either like India or USA, where your educational qualification and relevant experience would be the key. Here all your extra qualifications on paper, would be a threat to the person who would be your boss, who would have grown in the organization from a packager position. He would eliminate your application right at the beginning.

I would like to apologize to you, for dampening your spirit right now. Please note that today the most happening place in terms of jobs in the world is INDIA !. Even USA is in recession. Canada has a population of about 35 million unlike 1100 million in India. Hence you need to understand that the number of jobs are lesser, while with high Quality, Qualified immigrants landing into Canada, the competition for any job is quite high. I would like to make a sweeping statement(this will be definitely challenged by many of fellow CD's) that Canada is technologically behind India in many sectors, eventhough it has border with USA(technological capital of the world).

But I would like to end as always, Luck plays a crucial part and may be you would be the lucky one.

Good Luck and God Bless!

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....

"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
