Hi,

Please guide me with employment agencies in Toronto. Which one are good ones and how effective they are? How much do they charge for their services? I am particularly interested in finance and banking sector. I have done my MBA Finance and am half way through CSC.

I would really appreciate if you can give me cues for job search in Toronto.

Thanks

Peace

Peace,

Employment agencies cannot charge job seekers for assisting them find work.

You may find ads for companies that do charge to find you employment however I understand that this is not legal and you dont need to pay to get help finding work.

You can also go to your local HRDC/EI Office to get a list of the closest "Employment resource centres" for you. There are employment counsellors that can help you with your job search/resume needs. You dont pay for any of these services.

Im sorry as I dont live in Ontario I dont know what specific agencies are out there. Look in the yellow pages under ' employment'.

good luck

Hi,

Thanks for the replies and the link.

But I was wondering if someone can tell me which are the good employment agencies, if you have contacted them before and have been able to find some good leads. More precise information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Peace

Kelly Services seems to be one of the popular ones here. I've worked with them before and it has been a pleasant experience. It does depend from agent to agent but generally, Kelly Services is pretty good. They provide employment in many different fields so they've definitely had to keep their reputation up.

Another good one is Apple. I haven't used them but my mom had and they are fairly good.

What I did NOT like, however, was People To Go. I had to work with them because I just HAD to... they were the only ones providing that position I was looking for. Not just me, but everyone who has used them has considered them a disaster. So unless you are extremely desperate, try to steer clear of them. Same goes for Spherion.

Telehelp Staffing is very good also but that's more technologically inclined and not for the banking industry.

Manpower is good but they are more focused on labor jobs.

IMHO, you should check out Kelly and Apple. Fortunately, their offices are very close together. They are both next to Square one. One behind Walmart. And Kelly is behind the parking lot that's behind walmart. If I am not mistaken, I think the building # is 200. Anyway, you can see both signs from outside. It's very visible.

I hope that helps to get you started! :) Then you'll just find out on your own through peers and experience as to which is good for u.
