Hi

Can any CPAs reply to the below questions?

-Is it OK to use CPA designation in Canada?

-What is the annual membership fees for CPA?

-Is the membership fees tax deductible?

Thank in advance

You will not be able to ‘practise’ accounting on the basis of a CPA designation. This does not impact your ability to state the designation while applying for employment.

There are 2 different fees – the licensing fees paid to the State Board of Accountancy and the ‘membership fees’ paid to the AICPA (membership in the AICPA itself is not mandatory. The State Board fees vary from state to state, most that I know of are in the range of US$100 – 200 bi-annually. The AICPA fees vary based on the member’s profile – rates at the following link:

Membership fees are deductible – you view the following CRA document for more info:

Thanks for your reply, Crenshaw.

I am still considering going in for CPA. I hope CPA will help me exploring international opportunities better.

Regards

\"What does CPA stand for?
CPA stands for certified public accountant. While anyone can file taxes and handle accounting, by completing your CPA certification, you demonstrate that you have a thorough understanding of tax law and regulations. Only the United States officially recognizes this particular qualification, but it has become the international standard for businesses around the world.\"
