Hi,
I need some advice from you guys. One of my close friends wants to relocate to Canada from the US for personal reasons. He is doing well in the US, but after 3 yrs there, has decided that Canada is a better location to raise his children. He has applied for his pr status already. He knows that he will be earning less than he is now but he is willing to make the trade off.
I wanted to get your advice about his chances in the market here. This guy is articulate, confident and a really good at high tech sales (boy, can he sell!). His soft skills are second to none.
I will really appreciate it if you can give your opinion on his chances here. Since I know him personally, I am of the opinion he will do well in Canada. Hoever, when it comes to IT sales I do not know much.
Here is his resume...i've removed his name and altered that of his US employers for obvious reasons.

My personal advice would be to ask this go getter to seriously think of shifting to Singapore for:
1. better IT prospects (Singapore is much more advanced in IT )
2. better remuneration than Canada
3. Better personal and social life (good house/live in maids/cars)
4. lower taxation, higher savings
5. ability to go to India atleast twice a year
6. Asian values and culture
7. Compared to Silicon valley -lousier weather, but definitely better than Toronto!
And Singapore gives PR to IT guys (with MBA specially) before you ask them!

IMHO, he should do quite well here. His US experience will be a big asset, depending on how he sells it (which most likely he won't have any problems with).
One pointer; Canadians expect people from the States (even Indians) to have a lot of confidence and a bit of brashness. The trick is to live up to that perception without going over the top.
I would advise him to send resumes to all the big-wigs here straight away, i.e. MS, IBM, Compaq et al. He can even try using his contacts to get a job in HP/Compaq - Canada.
One thing for sure, though. He won't make as much money as he is in the U.S. I know t

Are you there?
thanks for the input guys.
Singapore does look attractive in theory.
Any of you know any good head hunters in Canada? All the better if you have had experience with them.
