For an outsider / prospective Immigrant its generally a high learning curve to know the IT MARKET SITUATION in Canada - the grinds , the opportunities or the lack of them .
Wud CD IT veterans please share which skills are the most in demand and wage indicators.I know there are other websites also but getting it from the horse's mouth may matter a lot.
Which of the following skills are most in demand for say a 3 year experienced professional and what hourly rate is average :-
1. ASP .NET
2. J2EE
3. Oracle DBA Developer
4. Sun Solaris Administrator
5. MCSE - 2000 / 2003 .
Kindly share in ur observations for common benefits . This goes out specially for ppl in the IT industry.
Manasvi.
PS : Is it a correct assumption that the demand for IT is expected to grow in Canada alongwith India as Indian pro s may not wish 2 come 2 Canada due to rise in salaries on their home turf ?

Don't worry about your skills.
Everyone ends up working as pizza delivery person, gas attendant, supermarket clerk, genral laborer or flyer delivery guy.

Hi Manasvi,

Shaibalbose, Can I please have your email Id so that I can communicate with you.
naudurivsm, If I can get your email as well it will be of great help.
DesiTiger,
If I may , it says in your signature that you are from Kansas City USA. So assuming that you are in usa, how can you draw conclusions about canada. Looks like you are \"PREACHING\" your wrong philosophy.
I will give you another group of people who Preach... Fake Swamijis...
enjoy.

Manasvi,
I think it will be better to start your discussion on "skills in demand" in a new thread.
This is a very good thread and will be beneficial to many, more so the IT market being very volatile, the skills in demand keeps changing more so often.
Meanwhile my husband has some friends in Canada with whom he can talk regarding this thread and share the Info.
maple_asian, Congratulations!! we can see some light at the end of the tunnel. Kindly share the process which you did to achieve success.
Desi Tiger,
If you have a business in Canada, can you throw some light as to some websites where I can find Info regarding opening my own business and rules and regulation for opening business.
Thanks for the info
Just goto the below site you can get all the information about starting a business.
http://www.ontariobusinesscentral.ca/
I did visit the Small Business Center, it costs around CAD $600 odd to get your business registered. And the best thing is Canada is pro business you can get your business registered within 48 hrs (2 working days).
If you think about IT Consulting, I would highly encourage you to have your own incorporation registered. Major vendors like TEK Systems/Calian do advice you to work on corp to corp basis. It is an advantage for both you and the vendor on different aspects.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Raj
