A nice article.

Another point which may or maynot be relevant to you people out there. We never tell our kids we cannot afford anything, we always say that money is prioritised for something else and why it is prioritised for that something else.
imo, It helps kids learn how to prioritize and distinguish between wants and needs. Often, in the process, parents learn to distinguish better too :D.

"Teaching kids about $"??? My daughter is hardly 4 and she knows more about money than I want her to. Don't underestimate kids. Money is the first thing they learn about in this country. They are taught to reduce EVERYTHING to it's basic , simple form: MONEY. Life ain't that simple honey!

My personal opinion: I DON'T WANT MY KID GROWING UP AS A SLAVE TO MONEY. Period.

Rather than have my daughter equate an Ipod with good behavior , I will have her JUSTIFY the need for an Ipod. It gives me a good chance to understand how her mind works , gives me a handle on countering peer pressure and instilling in her the concept that what she gets is what she needs and is INDEPENDANT of how she behaves. Controlling her behaviour with money makes her a wage slave.

Are you trying to say that you will never give her something that she does not need but only want?
