Deal With Reality or Reality Will Deal With You
What Alberta & Canada needs mostly is tradespeople. It means people in trades like plumbers, technicians, mechanics, electricians, construction, carpenters, etc.
Does not mean that other people are not required. But the main demand is for people in various trades. They make good money too.

This week, the Alberta government announced plans to increase immigration to the province, from about 16,400 people annually to 24,000, or from seven per cent of the nation's immigrants to 10 per cent, providing that the federal government helps ease the red tape.
The hope is that many of the arrivals will be skilled; existing patterns are encouraging. In 2004, 48 per cent of immigrants arriving in Alberta possessed a university degree, up from 33 per cent in 1996.
If there's a warning sign, it's that only five per cent of immigrants last year had a trade certificate, while 11 per cent held a non-university diploma.
Canada and Alberta need skilled immigrants with degrees, but the province also needs plumbers, mechanics and carpenters. Thus, the provincial government's plan to advertise abroad for all of the above is the right thing to do, and a breakdown of where Alberta immigrants originate from gives a clue as to where additional workers might be sought.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
Fort McMurray is about 8 hrs. by road from Calgary. It is nearer to Edmonton (around 5 hrs.)
Weather today (10th Oct. in Calgary) is highest 22 & lowest around -2. For the last one week it is around 8-15 degrees with lowest around -2. However it can be expected to start going down now. Fort McMurray is colder than Calgary.
Thanks & rgds.
Rajan.
