Alberta Importing 100,000 people

Yesterdays news in The Globle and Mail(5th oct). Alberta is importing 100,000 people. They are going to do fast track process of immigrants qualification for overseas qualified people.

So get on the bus to Alberta.

Dont they have to go through the Fedral govt?
Does alberta have its own immig policy?

I have heard that there are recruitment agencies who are scouting for people in other parts of the country for placement in Alberta.

I am not sure about the quality of jobs though. There is definitely a demand for people in the oil & gas sector. In turn this gives a boost to other industries also.

Plenty of jobs for Technicians, Trades and Skilled Labour. But tough working conditions specially in winter. -40 degc and have to work in the woods (Bears. etc). Companies are finding it tough to get peple to come there.

Guys wud u be able to help me with some recruitment agencies hiring for Alberta ?

Jay - how wud the Alberta authorities be able to fast track, any clues ? Wud their job offer do the trick ?

I was on a business trip to Calgary and was in an Industrial area. I saw a lot of full time hiring boards outside most of the companies. Even the local Tim Hortons and Subway had hiring boards. You dont really see these kind of ads in Toronto.
I was talking to a white guy electrician who came to install a Transformer at our company in Calgary. This guy came from Fort McMurry(some city in Alberta). This guy and his coworkers gets $1500 per week CASH from their company and they even get paid for their food. WOW...that must be nice.
