There is a huge demand for skilled personnel especially engineers in places like Fort McMurray, Edmonton & Calgary as per a recent report. Any Desis looking for good jobs & pay should contact recruitment agencies or look up companies. There is a good chance for people to get jobs in their field.

As per a report, the immigration minister Joe Volpe has said that there was a need for 1000 computer engineers for graphic & video game design in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

Thanks & regards.

Rajan.

I do'nt believe in what they say. One of my friend who is a oil field engineer with 20 years experience in India/Korea is still strugling to get a job in calgary. He is still doing labour jobs.

It could be that way. But everyday I read about articles by industry also about shortage of manpower.

Nothing wrong in trying though, right?

Thanks & regards.

You honestly think that people are not trying?

Anybody I know , when they apply for jobs, they do so all over Canada.
Anything that is advertised, that is.

But people will not hop from city to city , town to town, village to village looking for a Job. At a certain time they have to be stationary for differeant reasons like lack of finances, family/kids issues etc.

If there were Jobs and the levels of shortage of skilled people as claimed by govt/private sector, they would be waiting to pick you up from the airport.

Shortage = more Jobs, less people. Guess who should be more active?

Merely pointing out.

It is like this. They may be needing very highly skilled technicians like Dumper /Dozer operators for mines. Mind you, no Dumper operators migrates from India . it is all about highly educated persons who want/desire/seek white collar jobs. So, even if some Mechanical Engineer wants to get Dumper certificates, it will take years for him to get this type of certificate + canadian experience. Meanwhile, just to survive he will start labour job & will become permanent . He will be happy to get around 3000 per month with OT . He will be a happy lot & Canada will get one more Highly skilled Migrant but still Dumper Dozer operator job is vacant & govt. will come up with new numbers to push for migartion.
Jai Ho Canada.

It is true that there are good opportunities in Alberta. Most desis land up in Toronto thinking that since its a big city, there would be jobs. They forget that there are thousands like them looking for work in Toronto. Desis do have qualifications and experience, but they MAY NOT know how to present them properly and lack of soft skills (there is enough material on CD on these issues).

Desis have moved all the way from India. Moving from Ontario to Alberta should not be a big deal. I am sure lots of desis are trying for a job in Alberta. IMO they need to take a closer look at what may be the shortcomings.

I know many guys must be trying. I wanted to bring this to the attention of all. I am not asking anybody to move from one place to another looking for a job. But those interested can definitely try thro' agencies or websites.

Thanks & regards.

Rajan.
