Contacting BLS on phone was of no use as it's been busy forever. I have to travel to India for about 29 days and already have a PIO.
YogicLogic: Dan, Using the VOS with the immigration category info under Remarks, i submitted my OCI application. It was successfully processed and I was able to get my OCI without any problems. The key was to ensure that the VOS document contains Immigration Category information under remarks. I included a covering letter to the CIC requesting them to include this information in the VOS.
MITRON: Forget that . I know a guy who was Single and was 30 +, when he applied for OCI. They wanted his parent's landing paper ! if he wanted to apply for OCI ! What parent's landing people have to do with an Adult male is beyond me. He was 20 + when he came to Canada with his parents. So he was not a minor when he came to Canada, neither was he a minor when he was applying for OCI.

Warrior: Sometimes you may have to manually set the frequency. Almost all triband gsm phones from India had the 1900 band and you just go to the network settings inside the phone menu and select the 1900 frequency. There is no provider that uses only 850 band here in Canada, AFAIK.
Maharaj: As long as your Triband have 850/1900 - it will work everywhere here in Canada & US. But Triband phone in India won't have at least one of 850/1900. In India you need 900/1800 frequency phone. Your Triband may not work in some area if it does not support 850.
